  2010 Dinners -- updated April 28, 2010

Due to bad weather or a lack of ramps, some dinners have been canceled or had date changes in the past. So please contact them if you are traveling a long distance.

Nestorville, WV
April 3. Noon. At the Nestorville Community Building. The dinner will include ham, ramps, fried potatoes (with or without ramps), slaw, corn bread, white or brown beans and dessert. The cost will be $8 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. The dinner is sponsored by the Kasson Ruritan Club.

Middlebourne, WV
April 10. 5:00 p.m. There will be a ramp dinner in Tyler County at the Log Building at the Tyler Co. Fairground, three miles south of Middlebourne. Cost is $10 and is sponsored by the Tyler FFA Chapter. Menu will include: soupbeans, ham, potatoes with and without ramps, ground beef with ramps, ramp salad, dessert, drink, cornbread, green beans, boiled ramp greens, and ramp soup.

Glenville, WV
April 11. Noon to 5:00 p.m. The friends of Terry and Denise Ellyson will be having a benefit Ramp Dinner at the Gilmer County Recreation Center. Buckhannon, WV

April 17. 2 p.m. A family style ramp dinner at the South Fork Grange, 15 miles south of Pennsboro. The cost is $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 12 yrs. for more information call (304) 659-2073.

72nd Annual Feast of the Ramson, Richwood, WV

Rock Cave, WV
April 17. 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Banks District Civic Center. $25. Ramps by Dale and Teresa: A Celebration of Spring Tonics. A benefit for non-profit New Appalachian Farm and Research Center who is attempting to support a local food system for WV. Menu: these are only a few items on menu, Roasted Garlic & White Bean Hummus with ramps on flat bread, Puree of fresh asparagus soup, Classic potato & onion frittata flavored with ramps, Roast picnic shoulder of pork pan juices with essence of wild leeks, Spinach Ramp & mushroom lasagna, Strawberry rhubarb tart with lemon curd, .....on and on. Camp Caesar Ramp Dinner, Camp Caesar, WV

Helvetia Ramp Dinner, Helvetia, WV
April 24. 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. or when all food is gone. The location is at the Community Hall. The Supper features fried and fresh ramps, beans, ham, fried potatoes, applesauce, cornbread, drink, and dessert. Volunteers will be preparing over 60 bushels of ramps, 300 pounds of ham, 60 pounds of beans, 480 pounds of potatoes, and 200 pounds of cabbage. The admission fee is $12 adults, $6 children under 12. Helvetia Community products will be available upstairs in the Community Hall. Dance 8:00 - 11:00. The music will be provided by the Helvetia Star Band. Rand, WV, 10th Annual Rand Lions Club Ramp Dinner
April 24. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. $8.50. The menu will include ramps, fried potatoes, pinto beans, ham, cornbread, dessert and drinks. Cost will be $9. For more information, call Pete Conley (304) 925-5557.

April 24. Noon to 4 p.m. I have no other information on this dinner but it probably is the one sponsored by Rowlesburg VFW Cannon Hill Post 3008 and Auxilary.

Washington Bottom Ramp Feed, Washington, WV
April 24. Noon to 4 p.m. at the community building on WV 892 (Dupont Road). The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Menu includes ramps, ham, fried potatoes, soup beans, apple sauce, cornbread and coffee or tea. Boarding house style service. Contact: David Lawson (304) 863-3311.

Aurora, WV, Aurora Volunteer Fire Department Ramp Dinner

Mt. Liberty, WV
April 24. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mt. Liberty Community Center. The dinner costs $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and younger. The menu includes both raw and cooked ramps, fried potatoes with and without ramps, ham, brown or white beans, corn bread, dessert, drinks and applesauce. Mt. Liberty is located between Philippi and Belington off U.S. 250. Going north from Belington to Philippi, turn left past Faithway Baptist Church. May 1. 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. At the Knights Of Pythias Glendale Lodge #78 building located at 211 Tennessee Avenue on the corner of Randolph Street. The menu includes Ramps, Ham, Fried Potatoes, Pinto Beans, Cabbage, Eggs, Cornbread, Dessert and Drink. The price is Adults $10.00 and Children $5.00. Takeouts will be available.

Erbacon, WV
May 1. Time and menu aren't confirmed yet. 11:00am - 5:00pm. Our menu includes: Fried Potatoes, Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Brown Beans, Ramps, Cornbread, dessert and drinks. The location is the Erbacon Community Center and the proceeds go towards community projects such as Christmas gift for local children and providing the use of the building at a minimal cost.

Faith Gospel Church, Parkersburg, WV
May 1. 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m or until all the food is gone. Directions: Go to South Parkersburg, and take Gihon Road to Lost Pavement Road. Faith Gospel Church is 1 1/2 miles out Lost Pavement Road, on the right. This is a fundraiser to help our church purchase a new van. Price: $8 per person. Menu includes: Cooked Ramps, Raw Ramps, Ramps & Potatoes, Ramp Salad, Soup Beans, Cornbread, Ham, and Deserts. Refreshments include Tea and Coffee. May 1. 12:30 to ? $10 adults, less for kids. At the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Department in Upshur County, near Helvetia and Czar.

Williamsburg, WV
May 1. 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 53rd Annual Dinner. Williamsburg Elementary School. The menu will consist of ramps (cooked and raw), ham, buttered brown potatoes, brown beans, cole slaw, homemade bread, cornpone, desserts, milk, buttermilk, iced tea, sassafras tea and coffee. May 2. 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The 40th annual event at H.E. White Elementary (501 Bomont Road) features delicious home cooked foods.

Frametown, WV
May 2. Noon til the food is gone. Frametown Volunteer Fire Department. Ramps, brown & white beans, cornbread, scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, dessert, and drinks. Adults $10.00, Kids 4 to 12 $5.00, under 3 free. The firehouse is no more than 1/2 mile off of Rt. 4 in Frametown on Rosedale Rd.

Mount Grove, WV
May 2. 11 a.m. til 3 p.m. The Best Stinkin' Dinner You Will Ever Eat will be served by Mount Grove Volunteer Fire Department. ALL YOU CAN EAT!! Adults 8.00, children 6-11-$3.00, under 6 yrs eat FREE. While there, be prepared to purchase your Elimination Dinner tickets for $30.00 which includes a hog roast dinner for two and takes place on July 10. Mt Grove is on Rt 219 between Oakland, Maryland and Thomas, WV. As you look at a map, find where Maryland's southwestern tip fits into WV. That's about where we are. Watch for the signs. From Redhouse MD, take Rt. 219 south for approximately 8 miles to Mount Grove. From Thomas WV, take Rt. 219 north for approximately 4 miles to Mount Grove.

Springfield, WV
May 2. Probably 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Springfield Valley VFC will have a ramp dinner at the Community Building on Springfield Pike. $10, 12 and under $5.

Graysville, WV
May 8. 11 a.m. - until sold out. Graysville Community Building. Contact Bob Riggenbach (304) 845-0858. Someone told me that there are two Graysvilles. I believe this one is in Marshall County.

Hacker Valley, WV
May 22. Noon to 3:00 p.m. Tickets Adults 14.00, Children under 12 $7.00. 350 tickets total will be sold. To order contact Hacker Valley School at (304) 493-6488.

Lost Creek, WV
June 6. 11:00 a.m. to ? The Reynoldsville and Lost Creek Volunteer Fire Departments will be having a Ramp Dinner. Menu: Ramps, Bacon, Fried Potatoes, Soup Beans, Salad, Corn Bread, Dessert, Drink. Price: $10.00 adults, $5.00 children. Location: Lost Creek Community Building. Directions: Interstate 79 South, Lost Creek exit, go to four way stop turn left, first street to the right by Harrison County Bank, sets on right side of road. Follow the signs.
