Due to bad weather or a lack of ramps, some dinners have been
canceled or had date changes in the past. And on some dinners, I just use the
best information that I can find. So please contact them if you are
traveling a long distance.
I was told that the Jenkins Chapel dinner has been changed
to May 17th this year. (Updated May 1)
Please note that there is a correction to the dinner in Springfield.
It is actually on May 4th. The WVTourism website seems to have merged the info
for this dinner with the Spanishburg dinner. (Updated April 9)

April 5. Sponsored by the Kasson Ruritan group. The proceeds will be used to fund
community events. The dinner starts at 12:00 pm and lasts until the food runs

Tyler FFA Alumni Ramp Dinner, Middlebourne, WV
April 12. Tyler FFA Alumni will hold its Ramp Dinner at the Tyler County
Fair Grounds Log Building (3 miles south of Middlebourne). Last year's donation was $10
per plate at door. Serving will begin at noon and last until the ramps are
gone. This fundraiser takes the place of the one sponsored by the Upper
Ohio Conservation District in previous years.
West Union, WV
April 12. 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the West Union Christian Church on WV 18 North.
The event is sponsored by Learning Enhances and Advances Doddridge (L.E.A.D.),
which provides service for children and families in Doddridge, Harrison, Ritchie,
Tyler and Wetzel counties. Proceeds benefit the L.E.A.D. programs. Tickets are $10

April 13. The Facemire 4 Senate Committee will host a dinner beginning at 2 p.m.
with an end time not set. Doug Facemire is a Democrat candidate for WV State
Senate. It will take place at the Lewis County Senior Citizen Center in Weston. Tickets
are $15.00 each and are available at Foster Feed and the Bargain Barn in Weston.
There will be no tickets sold at the door due to limited seating.

Upshur
County Library 14th Annual Gourmet Ramp Dinner, Buckhannon, WV
April 18. Come to the Upshur County Public Library in Tennerton on Friday, from
5-8 p.m. to enjoy Ramps by "88 Restaurant and Lounge", a culinary extravaganza
prepared by Kathleen Loughney and Geoff Kraus. The menu will consist of Stir
Fried Ramps, Ramp Chowder, Ramp Quiche, Mixed Green Salad with a Bacon/Ramp
Vinaigrette Dressing, Tavern Ham, Red Roasted Potatoes, Corn Bread, Dinner
Rolls, Apple Dumplings and Peach-Blueberry Cobbler. Also food items provided
for those who are and those who are not ramp lovers. This is a unique opportunity
to sample gourmet ramp dishes. Coffee, iced tea and water will be provided.
Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children ages 6-12. Children ages 5
and under will be admitted free. Advance reservations are encouraged and will
be accepted through April 15, 2008 in person at the library circulation desk
or by phoning the library at (304) 473-4219. The atmosphere will be relaxed.
This culinary experience is available at the library only once a year. This is
the fourteenth year for this event. Regular library hours are Monday through
Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to
4 p.m. On April 18 the library will be closing at 3 p.m. to allow time to set
up for the dinner.

18th Annual Ramp Cook-off & Festival, Elkins, WV
April 26. Admission: Free Throw off winter by enjoying the local flavor of the
community eating "ramps," an onion/garlicky flavored vegetable that are some of
the first green things to pop out of the ground each spring in the Appalachian
mountains. Try ramps every way possible, enhanced with music and entertainment.

Helvetia Ramp Dinner,
Helvetia, WV
April 26. 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a community ramp meal featuring fried and fresh ramps,
beans, ham, fried potatoes, applesauce, cornbread, drink and dessert.
Volunteers prepare over 60 bushels of ramps, 300 pounds of ham, 60 pounds of
beans, 480 pounds of potatoes, and 200 pounds of cabbage. $10 Adults, $5 for

Jenkins Chapel Annual Ramp Dinner, Mathias, WV
May 17. 4-7 p.m. Turn off Lost River State Park Road to 1651 Jenkins Run Road. Go to
the church at the top of the hill.
Weston, WV
May 24. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or til the food runs out. A gigantic ramp feed will
be held at the armory in Bendale. The funds will benefit the family of the late
Anna Goldsmith, the wife a city employee. The menu will include Ramps, Fried
Potatoes, Corn Bread, Beans, Applesauce, Bacon, Desserts, Tea and Coffee. The
cost is $10 (all you can eat) and $5 for children under 5. They have 80-100
gallons of ramps. The organizers are seeking donations of food, paper products,
